Why this salad works

This salad balances sweetness, saltiness and freshness in a way that feels effortless but still a little elevated. The watermelon brings natural sweetness, the cucumber keeps it crisp, the feta adds creaminess and the olives give it a savoury edge.

The dressing ties everything together beautifully, with the guava vinegar adding a bright fruitiness, the white wine liquor bringing a gentle acidity, and the basil olive oil layering in a soft herbaceous finish.

Serving suggestion

Serve this salad well chilled as part of a summer lunch, alongside grilled meats, seafood or a simple antipasto spread. It also works beautifully on its own when you want something fresh, light and full of flavour.

Hot tip

For the best texture, assemble just before serving so the watermelon stays crisp and the feta holds its shape. If making ahead, prepare the ingredients separately and dress at the last minute.
